Zachary Kolodin

Zachary Kolodin’s broad range of experience in government, law, and strategic communications enables him to provide effective counsel in critical matters impacting his clients.

Prior to founding Pont Law, Zachary served as Chief Infrastructure Officer to Governor Whitmer and Director of the Michigan Infrastructure Office. During his tenure, he led Michigan’s efforts to obtain federal funds across a range of state agencies, launched a technical assistance center to ensure access to federal funding for disadvantaged communities, and managed a $337 million fund co-investing in federally-backed infrastructure, economic development, and climate-related projects. He also led efforts to streamline permitting in Michigan pursuant to an executive order, bolstering efforts to build clean energy, manufacturing, and housing projects in the state.

Before leading the Michigan Infrastructure Office, Zachary served as Deputy Legal Counsel for Governor Gretchen Whitmer. In that capacity, he led the process of developing numerous executive actions, managed a range of critical litigation matters, and stewarded the relationship between the Governor’s legal team and the legislative branch.

Zachary is also highly skilled at crisis management, having served at the epicenter of the COVID-19 public health crisis, and navigated reputation-threatening investigations and government inquiries during his years in private practice. Over his 15-year career, he has developed a reputation as a creative and resourceful strategist who can get things done the right way, even under extraordinary time pressure.

Zachary has also served as an expert on a variety of policy issues, both within the Whitmer Administration and across a range of media formats, including on electric vehicles, clean energy, automotive and manufacturing, innovation, and economic development.
